Overview & what to expect

The Philharmonic Hall hosts the centerpiece concert of Liverpool's Black History Month celebration, presenting the African Soul Rebels tour. This triple-bill showcases the vibrant diversity, political courage, and infectious polyrhythms of contemporary African music.

Headlining are Les Amazones d'Afrique, the celebrated pan-African female collective who blend traditional West African instruments with hard-hitting electronic pop, funk and feminist activism. They are joined by Gasper Nali, Malawi's one-man sensation whose driving rhythms on a homemade 3-metre babatone guitar have won global acclaim.

Opening the night is N'Famady Kouyaté, the Welsh-Guinean multi-instrumentalist who won the 2023 Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition with his exhilarating fusion of mandingue balafon rhythms and modern indie rock.
