Shrimp & Co opened at 50–52 Hanover Street on 21 July 2026, a short walk from Liverpool ONE and Liverpool Central. It is the chain's fifth UK site, after Leicester, Birmingham, Star City and Brixton.

The format is the seafood boil rather than a traditional fish restaurant: shellfish tipped out with house-made sauces and a chosen spice level, meant for the middle of the table. If you want a quiet plate to yourself, this is the wrong room. If you are four people who do not mind wearing it, it works.

What they serve

The restaurant lists seafood boils, grilled seafood, lobster, crab, prawns, mussels and calamari, plus loaded fries, seafood platters, burgers and desserts. Sauces are house-made and central to the whole thing rather than a side option.

Boils are priced and portioned around sharing, so two or more makes far more sense than eating alone.

It is halal

All of the food is halal. Shrimp & Co states plainly on its own Liverpool page that "all of our food is 100% halal".

That matters locally. Halal seafood of this kind is thin on the ground in the city centre, and for a group meal where seafood is the point, this is one of the few Hanover Street options that works for everyone at the table.

Opening hours: the site contradicts itself

Worth checking before you travel, because the restaurant's own page gives two different answers.

The opening hours panel says Monday to Sunday, 12pm to 10.30pm. The FAQ further down the same page says Sunday to Thursday, 12pm to 10pm, and Friday and Saturday, 12pm to 10.30pm.

Both were live when we checked on 16 August 2026. Until they agree, plan on the earlier closing time on a weeknight, or ring first on 0151 317 2982.

Booking and groups

Walk-ins are welcome, and the restaurant recommends booking at weekends and busy periods. Tables can be reserved online. It takes larger bookings for birthdays and celebrations, but asks you to contact the Liverpool team directly for those rather than booking online.

It describes itself as family-friendly and welcomes groups of all sizes.

Allergies

This is a shellfish restaurant, so it needs thinking about if anyone at the table has an allergy.

Shrimp & Co's stated position is that you should tell staff before ordering and they will do their best to accommodate dietary requirements. That is a weaker commitment than a published allergen matrix, so if an allergy is serious, ring ahead and speak to someone rather than relying on the menu description.

Getting there

50–52 Hanover Street, Liverpool, L1 4AF. It is a couple of minutes from Liverpool Central and sits between Liverpool ONE and the bottom of Bold Street, so it slots into a city-centre evening without a separate trip.

Our guide to new bars, cafés and restaurants in Liverpool covers the rest of this year's openings, and where to eat in Liverpool by area puts Hanover Street in context.

Opening hours

  • Sunday to Thursday, 12pm to 10pm
  • Friday and Saturday, 12pm to 10.30pm

Hours change. Check with the business before a special trip.
