What's On in Liverpool This Week: 21 to 27 September 2026

Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman opens at the Everyman, the musical Annie begins its run at the Empire, and BlackFest returns for its 2026 edition. Here is what is happening across Liverpool this week, with dates, times and ticket information.

Theatre

Death of a Salesman at the Liverpool Everyman

Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman runs at the Liverpool Everyman from Saturday 19 September to Saturday 10 October 2026. The production is directed by Olivier Award-winning Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu and stars Cyril Nri as Willy Loman.

The Everyman describes the production as a reimagining that brings the play into conversation with contemporary Liverpool and the immigrant experience. Fynn-Aiduenu said the play explores "what blackness and the migrant experience is across the UK," noting Liverpool's Irish and Nigerian heritage.

Tickets start from £11. A freelancers' mixer takes place on Wednesday 23 September at 6pm, with a discounted £10 ticket available for that evening's performance.

Annie at the Liverpool Empire

The touring production of Annie runs at the Liverpool Empire from Tuesday 22 to Saturday 26 September 2026. The musical is set in 1930s New York during the Great Depression.

The cast includes Alex Bourne as Daddy Warbucks, Claire Sweeney as Miss Hannigan, and Tanisha-Mae Brown as Grace Farrell.

Comedy

A comedy show takes place at the Liverpool Epstein Theatre on Monday 21 September 2026. Doors open at 7.30pm, with the show starting at 8pm. Tickets are priced from £22.50 to £24.

Comedian John Kearns brings his show Tilting at Windmills to the Liverpool Everyman on Thursday 24 September 2026. Check the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse website for tickets.

Music

The Cavern Club runs live music seven days a week. On Monday 21 September, the Front Stage hosts its regular live music schedule from 11am. The Cavern Pub also has live music throughout the week. Check the Cavern Club website for specific event prices.

Big Condo Records presents Bandzilla 24 at The Hold, inside the Shipping Forecast on Slater Street, on Friday 25 September 2026. The event runs from 6pm to 10.30pm, with performances starting at 6pm.

Everyone Says Hi launch their album at The Jacaranda on Sunday 27 September 2026. Doors open at 5pm.

Festivals and culture

BlackFest 2026

BlackFest returns for 2026, running from Monday 21 September to Friday 30 October. The grassroots Black Arts festival was founded in 2018 and platforms work by Black artists across community spaces and established venues.

The 2026 programme includes music, theatre, film, visual arts, spoken word and poetry. Artists announced include 90s pop group Cleopatra, ceramicist Nina Edge, and Jamaican musician KingFast.

Family and community

A Mamma Mia! themed freshers event takes place at Arts Bar Hope Street on Monday 21 September at 6.30pm. The event is aimed at university students and freshers. Tickets are from £4.

Liverpool city centre venues are walkable from Liverpool Central and Lime Street stations. The Everyman and Playhouse are a short walk from Liverpool Central. The Cavern Club and Jacaranda are in the Cavern Quarter, close to Liverpool Central. The Empire is directly opposite Lime Street station.
