Best Cheap Eats in Liverpool 2026: Great Food for £15 or Less
Cheap eats in Liverpool for £15 or less, with 2026 menu prices from Bold Street, Smithdown Road, the Baltic, the city centre and Lark Lane, checked this week.
Finding a cheap meal in Liverpool is easy. Finding one you would still choose if you had twice the budget is a better test.
This guide keeps the rule simple: the food has to work as a proper meal, substantial lunch or filling street-food order for £15 or less. That means no pretending a restaurant is cheap because one side dish costs £6, and no vague "affordable" labels without showing you what the money buys.
Prices were checked on **7 October 2026** against restaurant websites, current online ordering menus and current delivery listings. Delivery platforms can charge more than eating in or collecting directly, so use the prices below as a guide and check the venue's own menu before making a special trip.
If your budget can stretch a little further, there is also a short **£15 to £20** section near the end. The main list stays at £15 because that is where this guide is most useful.
*Price checked on a current online ordering or delivery menu. Delivery prices can differ from dine-in or collection prices.
The £15 rule
For this guide, £15 means food for one person, before drinks unless a deal specifically includes one. A place qualifies if you can buy a realistic meal, wrap, bowl, pizza, pasta, substantial sandwich or similar for £15 or less.
That does not mean every item on the menu is cheap. Several restaurants below sell more expensive dishes as well. The point is that you can walk in with a £15 food budget and still have a genuine choice.
Cheap eats around Bold Street and the city centre
Fattoush, Bold Street: chicken shawarma wrap for £6.50
Logo: courtesy of Fattoush.
Fattoush is one of the strongest examples of why keeping the limit at £15 makes sense. Its Bold Street takeaway menu lists a **chicken shawarma wrap at £6.50**, with lettuce, tomato, pickles and garlic mayonnaise. A kafta wrap is £6.95, while burgers served with chips are £9.95.
That gives you several proper meal options below £10 on a street where a sit-down lunch can easily cost much more.
What to order: Chicken shawarma wrap
Price: £6.50
Also under £15: Kafta wrap £6.95; chicken fillet burger with chips £9.95; lamb burger with chips £9.95
Fattoush also has a Hatton Garden branch, but the prices above are from the Bold Street menu.
Great British Doner, Bold Street: chicken doner wrap for £8.30

A few doors away, Great British Doner pushes the budget in a different direction. Its current online menu lists a **chicken doner wrap at £8.30**, with salad and a choice of sauces. The mixed doner wrap is £9.40, the beef version £9.80 and the vegan doner wrap £9.80.
The useful part here is the range. Meat, vegetarian and vegan options all fall below a tenner, while boxes with salad and a side stay around the £10 mark on current delivery menus.
What to order: Chicken doner wrap
Price: £8.30
Also under £15: Falafel wrap £7.60; halloumi box £8.70; mixed doner wrap £9.40; vegan doner wrap £9.80
Chop Chop, Fenwick Street: Korean chicken and rice for £10.60
Photo: courtesy of Chop Chop.
Chop Chop is particularly useful around the Castle Street and Moorfields side of town because the core menu is built around complete rice or noodle dishes rather than small plates.
The current delivery menu lists **Mega Chicken at £10.60**, with crispy chicken, Chop Chop's house sauce, fried vegetables and rice. Katsu Mega is the same price, tofu versions start at £10.50 and chicken katsu curry is £11.80.
That makes this one of the easier city-centre lunches to keep below £12 without having to assemble a meal from separate sides.
What to order: Mega Chicken
Price: £10.60
Also under £15: Tofu Mega £10.50; Katsu Mega £10.60; Popcorn Chicken with rice £11; Chicken Katsu Curry £11.80
Big Bowl Noodle Bar, Berry Street: fried rice from £12
Photo: courtesy of Big Bowl Noodle Bar.
Big Bowl is not quite as cheap as some older Liverpool menu lists suggest, but it still clears the £15 test on a substantial part of the menu.
Current delivery prices include **chicken fried rice at £12**, beef fried rice at £12, chicken chow mein at £12.30, Singapore vermicelli at £12.70 and Hainanese chicken with rice at £13.50. A create-your-own noodle soup is £14.
The restaurant's signature Big Bowl dishes now sit above this guide's threshold at around £18 on delivery listings, so those are not being used to justify its inclusion.
What to order: Chicken fried rice
Price: £12
Also under £15: Chicken chow mein £12.30; Singapore vermicelli £12.70; Hainanese chicken £13.50; noodle soup £14
Where: 12-14 Berry Street, Liverpool L1 4JF
Shiraz BBQ, North John Street: weekday meal deals from £11.99
Photo: courtesy of Shiraz BBQ.
Shiraz BBQ has one of the clearest city-centre deals in this guide because the restaurant publishes it directly.
From Monday to Friday, noon to 5pm, the early-bird offer lists **any pizza with a soft drink for £11.99** and **any burger with chips and a soft drink for £11.99**. Most main courses from the charcoal grill menu are £14.99 with a soft drink, although the Shiraz Special Mixed Grill and lamb chops carry an extra charge.
The time restriction matters. Outside the weekday early-bird window, use the normal menu rather than assuming the deal price applies.
What to order: Pizza plus soft drink
Price: £11.99
Also under £15 in the offer: Burger, chips and soft drink £11.99; most main courses with soft drink £14.99
Cheap-eats guides often become lunch-and-dinner lists, which misses one of the easiest ways to eat in the city centre for less.
Dale Street Kitchen's current online ordering menu lists a **Classic English Breakfast at £11.90**, including sausage, bacon, beans, two eggs, tomato, mushrooms, hash brown, black pudding and toast. The build-your-own breakfast is £9.90, while breakfast wraps start at £5.90.
This is a useful option if you are around Dale Street early, especially if your plan is to eat once properly rather than buy breakfast and lunch separately.
What to order: Classic English Breakfast
Price: £11.90
Also under £10: Build Your Own Breakfast £9.90; bacon breakfast wrap £6.50; avocado on toast £6.50
Where: 90 Dale Street, Liverpool L2 5TF
Dishoom Permit Room, Dale Street: naan-roll breakfast from £10.20
Photo: courtesy of Dishoom Permit Room.
Permit Room is not a budget restaurant across the whole menu, but breakfast gives it a legitimate place here.
The Liverpool breakfast menu lists an **egg naan roll at £10.20**, bacon naan roll at £11.20, sausage naan roll at £11.70 and the larger Wrestler's Naan Roll at £14.70. Date and banana porridge is £8.70 and is described by the restaurant as bottomless.
An optional 12.5% service charge is added to bills. It is optional and can be removed, but it is still sensible to account for it when working to a fixed budget.
What to order: Egg naan roll
Price: £10.20
Also under £15: Bacon naan roll £11.20; sausage naan roll £11.70; Wrestler's Naan Roll £14.70
Smithdown is one of the most useful areas in Liverpool for this guide because there is a large student population and several independent food businesses operating at genuinely different price points. L1Local's Wavertree and Smithdown food guide has a wider neighbourhood list.
Fritto Italian Street Food: fresh pasta from £7
Photo: courtesy of Fritto.
Fritto has one of the strongest menus in the entire guide on price alone, and the figures come from its current official menu rather than an old review or social post.
A bowl of **rigatoni al pomodoro is £7**, mafaldine al pesto £8 and mafaldine Bolognese £9. Panzerotti start at £7.50 for the Classico, while most filled focaccia sandwiches sit between £8 and £10.
There are plenty of places where £10 buys a snack and a drink. Here it can buy fresh pasta, a fried calzone or a substantial focaccia sandwich.
What to order: Rigatoni al pomodoro
Price: £7
Also under £10: Classico panzerotto £7.50; Caprese focaccia £8; Bolognese pasta £9; Milanese focaccia £9.50
Fritto currently opens Thursday to Sunday, so check the day before travelling.
Spitroast Smithdown: lunch bowl for £11.95
Spitroast's main menu can move past the £15 mark, but its lunch menu is built for this budget.
From noon to 4pm, current ordering menus list a **Lunch Bowl at £11.95**, with a choice of components. Hot baguettes are also £11.95, including Hunter's Chicken, Buffalo Caesar and Mediterranean versions, each served with peri-salted fries.
The fixed lunch price makes this particularly useful when you want a sit-down meal rather than a quick wrap.
What to order: Lunch Bowl
Price: £11.95
Also £11.95: Hunter's Chicken baguette with fries; Buffalo Caesar baguette with fries; Mediterranean baguette with fries
The Baltic works differently from Bold Street. Some kitchens are permanent restaurants, while Baltic Market traders can change. L1Local's Baltic Triangle food and drink guide is useful if you are planning a whole evening rather than choosing one cheap meal.
Polpetta at Baltic Market: meatball sub for £12.95
Polpetta's current Baltic Market delivery menu keeps several substantial dishes below the £15 ceiling.
The **meatball sub is £12.95**, with beef and pork meatballs, red sauce, four cheeses and gremolata. The chicken parm sub is also £12.95. Spaghetti and meatballs is £13.95, rigatoni alla vodka £13.95 and short-rib lasagne £14.95.
That gives you a proper choice rather than a single qualifying item squeezed under the limit.
What to order: Meatball sub
Price: £12.95
Also under £15: Chicken Parm Sub £12.95; Spaghetti & Meatballs £13.95; Rigatoni Alla Vodka £13.95; Short Rib Lasagne £14.95
Where: Baltic Market, Cains Brewery Village, Stanhope Street, Liverpool L8 5XJ
Baltic Market's trader line-up can change, so check the current list before travelling specifically for one vendor.
Le Viet Social, Parliament Square: banh mi from £9.60 on current ordering menus
Logo: courtesy of Le Viet Social.
Le Viet Social sits just off the main Baltic Triangle at Parliament Square and gives the area a good sub-£10 lunch option.
Its current Just Eat menu lists **lemongrass chicken, crackling pork, char siu and grilled coconut tofu banh mi at £9.60**, with the special and grilled steak versions at £10.80. The restaurant's own website also advertises a 10% student discount.
Delivery-platform pricing can differ from ordering direct. Le Viet Social says direct ordering offers lower prices, so check its own ordering page before paying a third-party premium.
What to order: Lemongrass chicken banh mi
Price checked: £9.60 on Just Eat
Also under £15: Char siu banh mi £9.60; coconut tofu banh mi £9.60; Banh Mi Special £10.80
Where: Parliament Square, Parliament Street, Liverpool L1 0BS
Lark Lane is not uniformly cheap, but there are still meals below £15 without falling back on a snack or side. L1Local's Lark Lane and Aigburth food guide covers the wider area.
Meat Me: gyros wraps from £10.50
Photo: courtesy of Meat Me.
Meat Me's current ordering menu lists a **chicken gyros wrap at £10.50**, with lettuce, onion, tomato, fries and house-made mayo. Pork gyros is the same price, while chicken and pork souvlaki wraps are £10.80.
If you want a larger plate, current delivery listings still keep several full souvlaki portions within the £15 rule. Chicken, pork and mixed souvlaki portions are around £14 to £14.80 depending on the platform and menu version.
What to order: Chicken gyros wrap
Price checked: £10.50
Also under £15: Pork gyros wrap £10.50; chicken souvlaki wrap £10.80; lamb souvlaki wrap around £10.90; full chicken souvlaki around £14.80
Hafla Hafla's menu is built around smaller Middle Eastern dishes and kebabs, so it needs a little more care than a conventional main-course restaurant when judging value.
Current delivery menus list **marinated chicken thighs at £11**, crispy chicken tenders at £9.50 and lamb ribs at £14.50. The house falafel kebab is £11 and the mushroom kebab £11.50 on the same current menu.
If you want a larger spread with sides and dips, you can move beyond £15 quickly. For a single kebab or meat dish, however, there are several clear options below the cutoff.
What to order: House falafel kebab or marinated chicken thighs
Price: £11
Also under £15: Crispy chicken tenders £9.50; mushroom kebab £11.50; sucuk sausage £12; lamb ribs £14.50
If £15 is the ceiling rather than the target, start with these.

That is the clearest reason not to move the whole guide to £20. Liverpool still has enough substantial food below £10 and £15 to make the tighter limit useful.
Vegetarian and vegan cheap eats
Several places in the guide work without meat.
Fritto has a vegan panzerotto at £9, a Veganissimo focaccia at £8 and several meat-free pasta dishes below £10. Great British Doner lists a falafel wrap at £7.60 and vegan doner wrap at £9.80. Chop Chop's tofu Mega is £10.50, while Hafla Hafla's house falafel kebab is £11. Le Viet Social's grilled coconut tofu banh mi is £9.60 on its current third-party ordering menu.
Permit Room also has lower-cost vegetarian breakfast options, although its all-day mains move closer to the £15 limit.
Check allergen and dietary information with the venue itself. Vegetarian or vegan menu labels do not automatically answer questions about cross-contamination or specific allergies.
Cheap eats for Liverpool students
Smithdown remains the easiest place in this guide to build a very low-cost meal around an everyday student routine. Fritto's pasta starts at £7 and several sandwiches stay below £10, while Spitroast has a fixed £11.95 lunch menu.
In the centre, Fattoush, Great British Doner and Chop Chop all have filling options below £12. Le Viet Social also advertises a 10% student discount on its official site.
This is where changing the entire article to £20 would weaken it. Once you allow another £5, the number of qualifying restaurants expands quickly and the definition of "cheap eats" gets much looser.
There are, however, a few deals between £15 and £20 that deserve a mention.
Le Viet Social: two-course lunch for £16
Le Viet Social advertises a **two-course lunch for £16**, served Tuesday to Saturday during the daytime. That misses the main guide by £1 but gives you two courses rather than a single dish.
Permit Room: larger all-day dishes
Permit Room's all-day menu has several dishes between £15 and £20, including some curries and larger plates. They are better treated as stretch options than as evidence that the restaurant belongs in a strict cheap-eats list.
Big Bowl's signature bowls
Big Bowl's namesake rice and noodle bowls sit around **£18.20** on current delivery listings. They are substantial, but the standard fried rice, chow mein and noodle soup dishes are the better fit for this article because they stay below £15.
How L1Local chose these places
This is a curated guide, not a directory of every restaurant with one inexpensive menu item.
For inclusion, L1Local looked for a realistic meal, wrap, bowl, substantial sandwich, pasta, pizza or comparable order at £15 or less. Current menus were checked on 7 October 2026, with official restaurant menus preferred where available. Where a venue's current prices were only readily visible through a delivery platform, that is made clear in the entry.
Delivery prices can be higher than collection or dine-in prices. Offers can also be restricted by day and time. Shiraz BBQ's weekday early-bird deal and Spitroast's lunch menu are examples where timing is part of the price.
We have not claimed to have personally eaten every dish in this guide. The selection is based on current menu value, the substance of the order and how useful the venue is for someone trying to eat in Liverpool on a real budget.
Prices change, so check before you go
Restaurant prices move quickly. A £14.95 dish can become £15.95 and drop out of this guide with one menu update.
That is why L1Local will treat this as a maintained page rather than a once-a-year list. If a core meal moves above £15, the entry should either be updated with a new qualifying order or moved into the stretch section.
If you spot a menu change, a closure or a Liverpool place that should be considered, send L1Local the current menu and price.
