Liverpool Car Boot Sales and Second-Hand Markets: Days, Times and Seller Fees

If you want a proper car boot sale in Liverpool, the choice is narrower than old market lists suggest. Tuebrook is the regular in-city option, while Calderstones offers a monthly South Liverpool sale and Bootle adds an early Sunday option just outside the boundary.

Tuebrook Market and Car Boot Sale

Where: Dorset House, West Derby Road, Tuebrook, L6 4BR
When: Thursday and Saturday
Opening hours: 8am to 2pm

If you specifically want a regular car boot sale inside Liverpool, Tuebrook is the obvious place to start. Liverpool City Council describes Tuebrook as predominantly a car boot sale, running twice a week rather than only on occasional Sundays.

Car boot sellers do not need to apply for a normal market pitch in advance. The council says to arrive between 6am and 8am, with spaces allocated first come, first served and payment taken on the day.

Current council charges are:

• Cars: £10 to £15
• Vans: £20

Those prices come from Liverpool City Council's seller information and should be checked before setting off.

Tuebrook is useful because it gives Liverpool residents a car boot option on both a weekday and a Saturday without travelling out of the city.

Caldies Car Boot at Calderstones School

Where: Calderstones School, Harthill Road, Allerton, L18 3HS
When: Second Sunday of every month
Buyers: 9am to 12.30pm
Seller access: 8am to 8.45am

Caldies is a monthly car boot sale at Calderstones School in South Liverpool. It is organised by the Friends of Calderstones Parent Teachers & Friends Association, and the school says entrance and pitch fees support Calderstones pupils.

Buyer entry currently costs £1, while children under 12 enter free. Dogs are allowed on leads, and food, drink and toilets are available on site. Organisers say it normally runs in rain unless conditions become exceptional.

Selling at Caldies

Sellers can book ahead or arrive on the morning. The current prices listed by Caldies seller information are:

Pre-booking guarantees a pitch. Sellers arriving in vehicles must enter between 8am and 8.45am, and vehicles cannot leave until 12.30pm. This is a community fundraiser with organised entry, rather than a commercial weekly market.

Bootle Car Boot Sale

Where: Trinity Road, Bootle
When: Sunday
From: 6am

Bootle is outside the Liverpool City Council boundary, in Sefton, but it is close enough to be useful if you are searching for a car boot around Liverpool. The sale operates from a hard-standing site around Trinity Road, with current listings also showing some Bank Holiday Monday dates.

Liverpool Rocks lists buyer admission as free. Published seller prices from MarketFest UK are:

• Car: £10
• Van: £15
• Large van: £20

Outdoor sales can still be affected by weather or organiser changes, so check the Car Bootle organiser page before travelling. If you specifically want a sale inside Liverpool, Tuebrook or Calderstones are the better options.

Granby Street Market

Where: Granby Street, Toxteth, Liverpool
When: First Saturday of every month except January
Opening hours: 10am to 3pm

Granby Street is not a car boot sale, but it belongs in a second-hand market guide because bric-a-brac, vintage clothing and memorabilia are established parts of the market. Granby 4 Streets CLT says the community-run market started in 2010.

Alongside second-hand goods, you can find:

• memorabilia

• handmade products
• international food
• locally produced food and drink

The remaining published 2026 dates are 5 September, 3 October, 7 November and 5 December. Art in Liverpool lists each date as 10am to 3pm. The December event is usually expanded into a Christmas market, but check the organiser's latest announcement.

Liverpool Book Market at the Bluecoat

Where: Bluecoat, School Lane, Liverpool, L1 3BX
Opening hours: 11am to 5pm
Entry: Free

The Liverpool Book Market takes place inside the Bluecoat and brings together local booksellers selling second-hand, out-of-print and specialist titles. Bluecoat's current listing has the dates and visitor information.

Upcoming 2026 dates currently include:

• 18 and 19 September
• 16 and 17 October
• 20 and 21 November
• 11, 12 and 13 December

This is narrower than a car boot, but it is the better choice for old books, unusual titles and specialist stock.

Great Homer Street Market

Where: Great Homer Street, Liverpool, L5 5AB
When: Saturday
Opening hours: 7am to 3pm

Great Homer Street Market, usually called Greatie, is a large traditional weekly market. It is not a car boot sale, so do not expect every stall to consist of somebody emptying their garage.

Liverpool City Council lists more than 140 stalls selling clothing, homeware, meat, fruit and vegetables, plants, bakery products, cosmetics, toys and other goods.

The site has:

• 130 free visitor parking spaces
• toilets
• a café
• hot and cold food stalls

Great Homer Street became home to a weekly Liverpool market in 1840, after the market moved from an earlier site close to where St George's Hall now stands. The council's current page is the place to check opening arrangements before travelling.

Stanley Park Market

Where: Stanley Road Car Park, Priory Road, Anfield, L4 0TQ
When: Wednesday
Opening hours: 9am to 3pm

Stanley Park Market returned for its 2026 season on 1 April and operates every Wednesday unless a Liverpool FC match affects the site.

The market can accommodate up to around 100 stalls and includes clothing, homeware, accessories, fresh produce, crafts, food and drink. Free parking is available at the market site.

Garston and Monument Place markets

Garston: Speke Road, Garston, L19 2PA, Friday, 9am to 3pm.

Liverpool City Council describes Garston as a traditional outdoor retail market with up to 50 stalls, including fish, meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, fashion and homeware. It is a neighbourhood retail market rather than a dedicated second-hand sale, but it is useful for a Friday browse.

Monument Place: London Road, Liverpool, L3 8JA, Tuesday to Thursday, 9am to 2pm.

Monument Place is one of Liverpool's smaller regular markets. The council describes its main offer as clothing, fashion and homeware. Both markets are listed on Liverpool City Council's current markets page.

Other Liverpool markets in 2026

The council also operates a changing programme of farmers', craft, food and seasonal markets. Current listings include events at St George's Hall, Croxteth Hall and University Square, alongside date-based markets elsewhere in the city.

Which Liverpool car boot should you choose?

If you want a regular car boot inside Liverpool, start with Tuebrook. It runs on Thursdays and Saturdays, and car boot sellers can turn up without applying for a normal market pitch.

For South Liverpool, Caldies at Calderstones gives you a monthly Sunday sale with published buyer and seller arrangements. For an early Sunday car boot, Bootle is one of the closest options, although it sits outside Liverpool in Sefton.

For vintage clothes, bric-a-brac and community traders, choose Granby Street. For old and specialist books, head to the Liverpool Book Market at the Bluecoat. If you mainly want a large traditional Saturday market, Great Homer Street remains the strongest fit.

Selling rather than buying?

The easiest options for casual sellers are currently Tuebrook, Calderstones and Bootle. At Tuebrook, car boot sellers arrive between 6am and 8am and pay on the day. At Calderstones, you can pre-book or join the queue on the morning, with cheaper prices for cars and vans booked in advance.

For Granby Street and Liverpool's conventional markets, traders need to use the organiser's application or booking process rather than simply arriving with goods. Liverpool City Council publishes current trader requirements and stall charges.

Before you go

Car boot sales are more changeable than permanent shops. Check the organiser's current page before travelling, particularly after severe weather or around public holidays.

• Bring cash as well as a card where possible.
• Arrive early for the widest selection.
• Arrive later if you want more room to negotiate with sellers.
• Check what goods are prohibited before loading the car.
