Newsham Scream Park returns to Liverpool this October, taking over the former Newsham Park Hospital for selected nights between 9 and 31 October 2026. This year brings four completely new horror attractions, including a blackout maze, Victorian waxworks and an adults-only Hellfire Club experience.

The event takes place inside the enormous former Newsham Park Hospital off Orphan Drive, a Victorian complex that began life as an orphanage before later becoming a hospital. For October, its corridors, wards and staircases are being turned into a series of live-action scare attractions.
Newsham Scream Park opens to the public on Friday 9 October 2026 and runs on selected nights through to Halloween on Saturday 31 October. Listings currently give a 6pm opening time, with most sessions running until around 10.30pm. Dates and individual admission slots can sell out, so check the live ticket page before travelling.

Visitors who went in previous years will not simply be walking through the same attractions again.
The 2026 line-up has been rebuilt around four new experiences: SpecimenZ, Waxworks, Cut Throat Lane and The Hellfire Club.
SpecimenZ is the new blackout attraction.
Its fictional story revolves around the aftermath of a secret Cold War experiment in which radiation testing has produced mutated creatures.
The more important part for anyone deciding whether to go is how it works: visitors are expected to navigate sections in complete darkness, with live performers and sensory effects forming part of the experience.
If the idea of not being able to see what is coming is worse than seeing it, this may be the maze to worry about.
Waxworks heads in a different direction.
It is built around a supposedly abandoned Victorian wax museum, filled with exhibits that become increasingly difficult to distinguish from the people moving around them.
The attraction combines performers with the setting to make visitors question which figures are scenery and which are not.
This one has a particularly Liverpool angle.
Cut Throat Lane takes inspiration from the legend of Spring-Heeled Jack, the mysterious figure who became part of Victorian folklore and was reportedly sighted in Liverpool during the 19th century.
For Newsham Scream Park, the story has been turned into a sensory-deprivation attraction set around a version of Victorian Liverpool. Organisers' terms specifically warn that blindfolding can form part of Cut Throat Lane.
The fourth attraction is different because it is optional and strictly 18+.
The Hellfire Club is described as a premium experience built around a secret society and is intended to be one of the more intense parts of the 2026 event.
Visitors aged 14 to 17 can therefore attend the main Scream Park, subject to its supervision rules, but cannot enter The Hellfire Club. The Hellfire Club is an optional extra, so check the ticket options on Skiddle to see what is available for your night.
One of the larger changes for 2026 is outside the scare attractions.
Liverpool street-food operator The Bus Yard has taken over the main courtyard, turning it into the central food, drink and entertainment area for the event.
The announced menu includes smash burgers, chicken burgers, salt-and-pepper chicken, loaded fries and churros, alongside a bar and live music.
That means visitors do not have to arrive, queue for the mazes and immediately leave. The courtyard is intended to work as the central hub before and between the attractions.

Newsham Scream Park has a minimum age of 14.
There is an additional rule worth knowing before booking: anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged over 18. The organiser states a maximum ratio of one supervising adult for every six under-18s.
The exception within the park is The Hellfire Club, which is restricted to people aged 18 and over.
The organisers also make clear that these are deliberately intense attractions rather than a children's Halloween trail.
This is worth reading before buying a ticket, particularly if someone in your group dislikes enclosed spaces or sensory effects.

The organiser advises against entering for people with several conditions that could be aggravated by the experience, including photosensitive epilepsy, certain heart or respiratory conditions and severe claustrophobia. Newsham Scream Park takes place at the former Newsham Park Hospital, just off Orphan Drive in Liverpool.

Newsham says the building contains more than 99,000 square feet of interior space, including long corridors, former wards and other surviving hospital rooms.
The surrounding Newsham Park has two lakes and 121 acres of open space, which makes it easy to build a daytime visit around an evening booking.
